UNS in Kosovo: EU Office discriminates Serb media (KIM Radio)
Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo (UNS) protested today because the EU Office did not provide translation in Serbian language for the media representatives attending the presentation of a report on LGBTI community and their rights in Pristina, KIM Radio reports today.
UNS further stated the event was organized by Centre for Social and Group Development, while the EU Office in Kosovo invited the media to cover the event one hour before it started.
UNS considers that this act in a harsh manner violates the right of the Serbian media community to use the language by those who should monitor the implementation of laws in Kosovo and be a role model for respecting the laws and European values.
Ombudsman, EU Office in Kosovo representatives, USA Embassy, Centre for Equality and Freedom, Office “Equal rights for all,” and Deputy Ombudsman, Marija Radulovic participated in the event.
The Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo protested several times due to violation of the law on use of the languages by Kosovo and international institutions and would continue to monitor and fight against the violation of legal and constitutional obligations on equal use of official languages in Kosovo, KIM Radio reported.
