Dacic: Serbia guarantees religious freedom, Serbs in Kosovo targets of chauvinism (Danas)
Serbia as a secular state recognizes seven traditional religious communities, while 28 religious communities are active there and is fully committed to providing enjoyment of this human right in all spheres of life, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said at the Washington Ministerial Conference on Religious Freedom.
Dacic also noted that members of all churches and religious communities in Serbia enjoy the religious freedoms as guaranteed by the Constitution and that the Government of Serbia has no information or report there were beaching or violation of religious freedom.
Dacic, however, warned that situation is different in Kosovo and Metohija. He noted “members of the Serb population in Kosovo, Serbian Orthodox Church, cultural and historical sites are for almost two decades under attack of the majority population and their chauvinistic ideology,” Danas daily reported.
