Rakic: Serbs will not allow the unification of Mitrovica (Kontakt plus radio, KIM radio, TV Most)
President of Serbian List Goran Rakic issued a press release, as a response to the statement of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci about the unification of Mitrovica, who said that it was a “unstoppable process”.
Kontakt plus radio based in Mitrovica North covered the full statement.
“The latest attack of Hashim Thaci on peace in Kosovo and Metohija is embodied in the announcement on annexation of North Mitrovica, because that is what is in his thoughts when he speaks about some sort of unification. On behalf of Serbian people, who managed to preserve freedom for themselves and their descendants under onslaughts of extremists in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and who paid a high price for it with the lives of their brothers and sisters, I say to Thaci that Serbs will never allow the unification of the northern and southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, because the unification which Thaci speaks about is a cover for the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from the only city in which Serbs have survived the ethnic cleansing in 1999”.
“The goal of more than a thousand attacks, which some Thaci’s friends have conducted against Serbs on the main bridge since 1999 to this day, is not to have Serbs in the north, as they do not exist in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica”.
“Serbs are always committed to peace, co-existence with everyone, and we have proved this by preserving the multi-ethnic character of our city, where in addition to Serbs, Bosniaks, Albanians, Roma, Gorani, Turks, Egyptians and many others live. We have demonstrated with our deeds and not with words how the respect for diversity should look like, but the announcements coming from Thaci, with whose he is trying to intimidate the Serbian people in this region, we reject them with loathing.''
''Peace has no alternative, but also the right to life and freedom has no alternative, and we will preserve that with the help of the state of Serbia and its President, Aleksandar Vucic.''
