Media: Macron to visit Serbia soon (Vecernje Novosti, Tanjug, B92)

French President Emanuel Macron should visit Serbia in the next couple of weeks, while a precise date should be known soon, Serbian media report.

This was stated by French Ambassador in Belgrade Frederic Mondoloni.

“I work hard on agreements with Belgrade regarding the new date, and I hope to propose a concrete date soon. I expect the visit to take place in the coming weeks,” Mondoloni told Vecernje Novosti daily.

Ambassador Mondoloni again emphasized that the visit initially planned for the beginning of December was not cancelled, but rather postponed due to France internal matters.

The main topics of the meeting between the French and the Serbian presidents would include economy and French investments, but also the situation in the region, as well as resolving the Kosovo issue.

Ambassador Mondoloni told Vecernje Novosti daily France supports Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, adding he has no information that anybody set a deadline to complete the dialogue by June this year.

“The sooner agreement is reached, the better. We asked Pristina to revoke the decision on taxes for the Serbian goods, and we hope it would soon happen,” Ambassador Mondoloni noted.
