Moscow: Tirana's aspirations towards Greater Albania cannot be ignored (RTS)

The Russian Foreign Ministry said it cannot ignore "a series of steps taken by the current Albanian leadership in connection with the consolidation of the Albanian factor within the regional policy of Tirana," reported Radio Television of Serbia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama said in an interview with Vision Plus that Kosovo was a "part of Albania" for him, and that "the unification of Albania and Kosovo is not plan B, but Plan A," RTS reported, quoting the statement.

The realization of this plan, the Albanian prime minister linked with the internal political and foreign policy debate about the possible correction of the border of the Serbian province, reported RTS.

''Unfortunately, the Western sponsors of Tirana continue to pretend not to notice the aspirations towards Greater Albania, the statement said.''

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has indicated that efforts are intensified to integrate areas inhabited by Albanians in the Balkans.

"We emphasize that such a policy not only aggravates the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, but also undermines the atmosphere of trust in the entire Balkan region," the statement said.

"We call on the Western partners of Albania to finally respond to the obvious tendencies of the Albanians in Tirana and, instead of building the controversial structures at the local level, to ensure that Pristina fulfills its obligations for the creation of the Communities of Serb Municipalities," the statement said.
