Slovak FM Lajcak says OSCE monitoring situation in Kosovo (N1, FoNet, Beta)
Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak told Serbia’s heads of state and government that his country, as chair of the OSCE, is carefully monitoring the situation in Kosovo and will continue providing assistance and support to Serbia on its path to the European Union.
Lajcak told President Aleksandar Vucic that the Western Balkans is the focus of the OSCE while Slovakia holds the rotating chair of that organization, a statement from the president’s cabinet said. It quoted Vucic as saying that Serbia feels that it is important for the OSCE to maintain a comprehensive, status neutral approach to Kosovo.
The Slovak foreign minister told Prime Minister Ana Brnabic that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue has no alternative, adding that Pristina has to revoke the 100 percent taxes it imposed on goods from Serbia to resolve the current situation and continue the dialogue.
A government press release quoted Brnabic as saying that Pristina was inflicting damage on people in Kosovo and the entire region with its unilateral moves. She added that Serbia will continue to be constructive and act responsibly.
Speaking about reforms, Brnabic told Lajcak that the goal of EU accession is a comprehensive change in society in line with European standards and values.
