Reeker: US ready to get involved in dialogue process (RTS, Voice of America)

Acting Assistant of US Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs, Philip Reeker said the US is ready to get involved in the process of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, however they may not do so until the both sides decide to return to the dialogue, RTS reports.

Reeker told Voice of America he spoke recently with the State Secretary Mike Pompeo about possible stronger role of the US in the process of the dialogue.

“We closely cooperate with EU partners. I was involved in an early phase of the dialogue leading towards the Brussels agreement, which I believe has made a great difference in the functioning of lives, establishing the pace and reducing the tensions in the region over the last five years,” Reeker said.

He added he believes both sides have willingness to find a solution and thus contribute to the stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans.

As a model to resolve the issues in the region “that could have not been solved for centuries” Reeker mentioned leaders of Greece and North Macedonia, RTS reported.
