Serbian officials react to placing Kosovo flag on Serbian medieval fortress in Novo Brdo (Tanjug, B92)
Serbian Ministry of Culture condemned placing of Kosovo flag on the medieval Serbian fortress in Novo Brdo, Tanjug news agency reported.
The Ministry noted that Pristina institutions “in the absence of their own cultural heritage reach out to seizing others”. Referring to Kosovo flag the Ministry said that “that colorful fabric with unclear symbolic meaning could serve to nothing else but wiping off the dust from the pearl of the Serbian medieval spirituality and European as well as world cultural heritage.”
Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric also reacted saying that Novo Brdo fortress is one of the crucial Serbian historic and archeologic localities, adding “that any attempt to portray it differently is nothing else but an act of violent erasing of history aiming to additionally deepen inter-ethnic gap in Kosovo and Metohija.”
Srpska Lista condemned the attempts of Kosovo institutions to seize the Serbian cultural heritage, considering placing of Kosovo flag on Novo Brdo medieval fortress “as an uncivilized attitude towards the culture of the Serbian people”.
Srpska Lista also noted “that Pristina could place that flag on the Moon, but it won’t be theirs, as the fortress in Novo Brdo and Church of Saint Nikola are not theirs either”.
SL added this act indicates that Albanian parties have started electoral campaign and such campaign as per rule is conducted to the detriment of the Serbian people.
