Lajcak: Serbia cannot move in several directions at the same time (RTS, Tanjug)

Slovakia Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak said that announced signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and Eurasia does not bring Serbia closer to its strategic goal, which is the EU membership, RTS reports. “If you are serious about your European orientation then you do not make political choices that do not bring you closer to it. This step is not one of them,” Lajcak noted. He termed the announced signing of the agreement “as confusing” adding “that one cannot move in several directions at the same time.” Lajcak also urged Pristina to revoke the tariffs on the goods from Serbia adding it is a reality that Kosovo is not recognized by the five EU member states. Responding to a journalist’s question about the position of Kosovo in the process of Euro-integration, Lajcak said ”that Kosovo is a problem because it is not recognized by the five EU member states. That is Kosovo reality”. Asked if he thinks this situation might change, Slovakia head of diplomacy, one of the five EU countries that does not recognize Kosovo responded what he would like to see in Kosovo first. “First change that I wish to see is a positive development of events in Kosovo, starting from revoking the tariffs,” Lajcak concluded.
