Opposition leader files criminal charges against Serbia’s President in respect to Kosovo (N1)
Regional broadcaster N1 reports that the head of the opposition Dveri Movement Bosko Obradovic said he had filed criminal charges against Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic who he said violated the Penal Code in his meeting with the US senators last week, N1 reported.
Obradovic specified that Vucic had breached the Articles 305, 306, 307 and 320 of the country’s Penal Code in respect to Kosovo.
He added that in the meeting with senators Ron Johnson and Chris Murphy, Vucic showed that “the current regime policy endangers the territorial integrity of Serbia, which constitutes a crime under the article 307 of the Penal Code.”
“He (Vucic) said he was ready to recognise Kosovo’s independence if a compromise (between Belgrade and Pristina) was reached. The Penal Code does not perceive any conditions under which any endangerment of Serbia’s independence (Article 305), the recognition of capitulation or occupation (Article 306) is allowed, neither is it the preparation of an act against the Constitutional order and safety of Serbia (Article 320), ” Obradovic said.
He added that Vucic’s statement “is a continuation of the violations of the Constitution by the current authorities.”
“I remind you that we have already filed charges against (Defence) Minister (Aleksandar) Vulin after his statements about the demarcation (with Kosovo) … We all remember Vucic’s statements about the demarcation as well,” Obradovic said.
He added that “common people have the liberty to express any political stand they want, but the head of state and ministers are sworn to protect the Constitution and not to call for the violation of it.”
“Their word has much more weight in politics and the state’s decisions, and that’s why the statements like these are punishable according to the Penal Code,“ Obradovic told reporters, showing a copy of the criminal charges.
