When idealism dies (Koha Ditore)

Lumir Abdixhiku remarks in his column today that the five-month political stalemate ended in the most ‘frightful’ and ‘unreasonable’ scenario – that of two main political forces entering a coalition. No one can justify such a ‘union’ between the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) except perhaps parties’ militants, writes Abdixhiku adding that international community also contributed to this union for fear of any possible destabilisation of Kosovo in face of future processes.

After the reach of the agreement for coalition, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK,) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK,) have started division of ministerial posts. They have established technical groups, which are expected to finalize the agreement during the next days. Eight ministries will belong to PDK and LDK, while three others are reserved for the minority community.

Albin Kurti, leader of Vetevendosje movement stated during a press conference held today that while reaching the agreement in principal, for the governance of Kosovo by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK,) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK,) the parties did not discuss coalitions but the post of the prime minister.

“These were two bodies, one seat and no brain,” he said and added that these two parties divided the government as if by knife.

Borders of understanding with Serbia (Koha Ditore)

Augustin Palokaj writes that what Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said during his recent visit to Serbia, on how independence of Kosovo is an irreversible reality, was not some heroic or patriotic act but it was a presentation of Albanian Government’s position on Kosovo which should be voiced in the same way be it in Tirana or Belgrade. If the Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, had not reacted in “such a pathetic” manner, Rama’s statement would not have made such a huge impression in the public. But it was precisely Vucic’s reaction that gave Rama’s statement a new dimension.

Now the blockade has only three letters: PDK (Koha Ditore)

According to Adriatik Kelmendi the current blockade by the Democratic Party of Kosovo is not a principled one; neither is it a state building, emancipating or a moral one. No one can ever say that a political party cannot be part of an institution, or the executive if it manages to make the majority at the Assembly, in cooperation with some other party. However, everyone would consider pretensions of a party which does not have the majority, an occupation.
