Serbia celebrates Statehood Day (Tanjug, B92)

Serbia is today celebrating Statehood Day - known also as Sretenje, as it coincides with the Orthodox feast of Sretenje (Candlemas). On this day in 1804, the Serbs, led by Djordje "Karadjordje" Petrovic, decided to start the First Uprising against occupying Ottoman Turks. On the same day in 1835, the first constitution of the modern Serbian state was adopted in the town of Kragujevac.

Scott: US continuously urges Pristina to revoke tariffs (BETA)

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said she is pleased with the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding the visit absolutely cannot impede Serbia on its path towards Euro-integration, Tanjug news agency reported. She noted Brussels is aware of Serbian and Russian traditional ties, political and economic ones, same as Moscow knows about Serbia’s EU aspiration.
