The United Nations (UN) has not responded yet to the petition that requests UN to prepare a report on women raped in Kosovo during the conflict in 1999, writes Zeri. The ‘Justice for raped women’ initiative collected 115.000 signatures in July 2014. The former Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, who launched the petition, said that there is still no reply from the Office of UN Secretary General.
Marko Djuric says the Brussels agreement should be respected and inflammatory rhetoric avoided when speaking about the community of Serb municipalities.
The head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija also called for honoring of the coalition agreement on which the current Kosovo government is based.
He was reacting to a statement by the Kosovo minister in charge of the dialogue with Belgrade, Edita Tahiri, concerning the future community of Serb municipalities.
Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, is set to travel to Brussels today to take part in the upcoming round of dialogue with Belgrade on the issues of energy, vehicle border insurance, licensing of companies in the north and import of pharmaceutical drugs. “Trilateral meetings facilitated by the EU are expected to take place on 16 and 17 December 2014”, reads a statement issued by the Kosovo Government.
Belgrade’s liaison officer in Pristina, Dejan Pavicevic, felt provoked by a statement of Kosovo’s chief negotiator in dialogue with Serbia, Edita Tahiri. As a sign of protest, Pavicevic tried to walk out of the roundtable organised to present the report titled “Civilised Monotony” about implementation of Kosovo-Serbia agreement. The report has been a joint production of BIRN Kosovo, the Center for Transparency, Research and Accountability, CRTA, from Serbia, and Internews Kosova.
Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister, Edita Tahiri, was in Brussels on 4 and 5 November where she took part in meetings with Serbian side, facilitated by EU, and discussed issued on energy and vehicle insurance. The parties formed working groups which are tasked in ensuring full implementation of agreement on energy. The delegations also spoke about the issue of vehicle insurance in the function of free movement of citizens and a follow-up meeting on the matter is expected to take place soon.
Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and chief negotiator, Edita Tahiri said today that Kosovo and Serbia have reached an agreement to cooperate on energy transmission and that the agreement will be implemented immediately.
Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and chief negotiator Edita Tahiri travelled to Brussels today where she will attend meetings focused on the implementation of the agreement for collecting customs income at Kosovo’s two northern border crossing points. A working group in Pristina that organized a petition seeking international justice for women raped during the war in Kosovo is waiting for a reply from the United Nations headquarters in New York, before they can submit the petition. Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri, who leads the working group, said the UN needs to prepare a report on what happened with the raping of women during the Kosovo conflict and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, namely its public information office, issued a press release today about the result of talks between delegations from Pristina and Belgrade in Brussels on the issue of barricades in Mitrovica. During the meeting, EU representative Fernando Gentilini confirmed the position of the EU that barricades must be removed, freedom of movement must be secured for all and that Kosovo laws and agreements need to be fully implemented.
BELGRADE, BRUSSELS - Director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Marko Djuric will meet with representatives of the interim authorities from Pristina in Brussels Tuesday, and the main topic of the talks will be the situation in the northern KiM city of Kosovska Mitrovica.
Djuric told Belgrade-based TV Pink on Monday that he expected to hear new ideas for the resolution of issues related to the bridge connecting the southern (Albanian) and the northern (Serb) part of the city.
