German government for Deutsche Welle: Paris meeting postponed (Insajder)

The summit in Paris, where the top representatives of Serbia and Kosovo were supposed to meet, in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, is postponed.

This was confirmed by the German government's press service for Deutsche Welle.

Stephan Albani, Bundestag MP from the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), warns that abrogation of the Special Court could lead to freezing of the EU perspective for Kosovo.

He said that he was very happy when German Chancellor Angela Merkel mentioned integration and support for Balkans among the main points of this legislature.

Former UN High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, criticized the fact that five out of 27 EU countries have not recognized Kosovo.

“Europe is not capable to have a clear policy towards Serbia and Kosovo and this is a shame,” he reportedly said.

“This is an absolute egoism of these five countries. EU can never win war on democracy in this manner,” he said.

Solving the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo requires frank talks, says Austrian Balkans expert Wolfgang Petritsch. He believes Brussels must prioritize the relations of the western Balkan states with the EU.
