We intend to support international order, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj said
BELGRADE, September 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Self-proclaimed Kosovo on Wednesday joined sanctions against Russia over Ukraine, Serbian B92 television quoted Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj as saying in Pristina on Wednesday.
The foreign minister said “this decision came as a sign of solidarity with countries of the European Union, the U.S. and other states that had imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine”.
“We intend to support international order, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Thus, Kosovo seeks to show that it is a reliable ally for Euro-Atlantic partners,” the diplomat said.
Hoxhaj did not specify what would be the sectors covered by restrictions.
Russian officials and companies came under Western sanctions, including visa bans, asset freezes, and sectoral restrictions for Russia’s incorporation of Crimea and for what the West claimed was Moscow’s alleged involvement in mass protests in Ukraine’s embattled southeast.
In response, Moscow imposed on August 6 a one-year ban on imports of beef, pork, poultry, fish, cheeses, fruit, vegetables and dairy products from Australia, Canada, the EU, the United States and Norway. The most recent set of sanctions against Russia was introduced last week by the European Union and the United States.
