In today’s front-page editorial, the paper writes that Kosovo is fortunate to have the support of a country like Germany but at the same time it is unfortunate to be led by politicians that are ruining it more and more by the day. The paper says it is no coincidence that a state visit to Germany by Kosovo officials comes after a seven-year break as this was a time of “silent refusal” by German authorities for the previous two mandates of the Hashim Thaci-led government. At this official visit to Germany, however, the Kosovo delegation led by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa received very clear messages from the German Chancellor Angela Merkel: fight corruption and organised crime, establish specialist chamber and reach agreement with Serbia. Without effective rule of law there can be no convincing positive results that Berlin is asking for and because of the lack of transparency on the Kosovo government’s side, Pristina delegation is also not being viewed as a reliable partner in Brussels talks. At the same time, certain politicians are not at all interested to put international justice in place but if there is another “no” to the international community, Kosovo will have to bear the consequences on its own, warns the paper.
