The European Parliament’s Resolution on Serbia acknowledged its reform process in the course of last year, which led to the opening of chapters 32 and 35 in negotiations on EU membership. In relation to recent adoption of the progress report presented by the EP Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister, the Vice-President of the caucus of socialists and democrats in the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein, says that he believes that Serbia undoubtedly achieved good progress.

Fleckenstein stressed negotiation chapter 35 as particularly important one, having in mind that, among other things, it refers to normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo. For the successful future membership of Serbia and Kosovo in the EU it is necessary that their relation enables their constructive cooperation in the neighborhood and within the EU institutions, said Fleckenstein.

EP Resolution on Serbia, calls for chapters 23 and 24 in the negotiation on EU membership to open as soon as possible, and greets progress in normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina and encourages further economic reforms.
