Kosovo mourns 3 killed in Munich shooting

Kosovo held a day of mourning on Sunday for the three young Kosovo Albanians, who were among the nine people killed in the shooting in Munich. President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, in honour of the victims of the terrorist attack in Munich and as a sign of solidarity with the people of Germany, declared 24 July 2016, a day of mourning. In accordance with President Thaçi’s decision, flags were at half-staff at all public institutions. On the evening hours of Sunday, Kosovo Ministry of Diaspora organized a memorial service in Prishtinë/Pristina city centre to remember the victims of the Munich shooting, Klan Kosova reported. On the other hand, KTV reported that the three victims will be buried on Thursday in their respective hometowns in Kosovo.

Ymeri requests mobilization of VV members against demarcation

Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) chairperson, Visar Ymeri, addressing to the electoral meeting of the General Council of this Movement, requested from VV membership mobilisation for the actions against the agreement on demarcation with Montenegro. He said that Government is trying to return this issue to the political tables, but as he said, VV is determined to prevent this from happening. According to Ymeri, VV has already started to plan and organize the resistance activities. “We are determined to stop the ratification of the demarcation in the Assembly. VV will immediately start to plan the organisation of protests against demarcation. As VV chairperson, I request from all of you, to prioritize the actions and the protests which the Movement will undertake against the demarcation. If we demonstrate the same united self-sacrifice, we will stop it again. At all costs,” said Ymeri. During the General Council, Vetëvendosje also elected its new leading structures. Current deputy mayor of Prishtinë/Pristina municipality, Dardan Sejdiu was elected as Vetëvendosje’s first deputy chairperson, the online edition of KTV reported.

Cepurin requests from Kosovo to establish the Association

The Ambassador of Russia to Serbia Aleksandar Cepurin stated in Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north, that the implementation of the UN SC 1244 Resolution is the foundation for solving the Kosovo issue, the online version of KTV reported. Cepurin, who paid a three day visit to Kosovo, said that the agreement on the Association of Serb majority municipalities is important for Serbs, but as he said, this agreement is not being implemented. “Kosovo should increase its engagement for the implementation the Agreement in order to protect the life of the Serbs in Kosovo,” said Ambassador Cepurin. 

Serbian Orthodox Church condemns incident in Viti/Vitina

A group of 20 Serbs from municipality of Viti/Vitina went to the Orthodox St. Gabriel’s Monastery in Binçë/Binac village on Saturday, to clean the courtyard of this monastery for a ritual that will be held on July 26h. According to Serbs, who spoke to the news agency Beta, someone in the vicinity of the Monastery, fired gunshots against them while they were cleaning the yard in front of the demolished monastery.
