Strengthening the institutional organization of Serbs in Kosovo is a key priority of the new government of Serbia, which this fall will begin the process of better organization of public services in Kosovo, said the head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić.

In talks with representatives of Serbs from northern Kosovo, Đurić added that among the priorities of the government would be and provision of better services of state and local institutions, and the fight to preserve as many people in the province.

We want to create conditions to retain the same number of people and to employ new. The government will help more than ever, but we need to work together in finding the way on how to use all the resources, Đurić said.

He also warned of the widespread lack of commitment to work at various levels of government and to the high-level corruption in the institutions of Serbia in Kosovo.

We have launched a serious return project and we expect the first massive return of expelled until the end of the mandate of the new government to those areas where it is safe and where they can create the conditions for return, Đurić said.

Đurić pointed to the intensification of the activities of representatives of the provisional institutions that are, in his words, directed to “the robbery of our heritage in Kosovo” as an attempt of Kosovo’s membership to UNESCO, as well as to boosting pressure on the representatives of the Serbs to give legitimacy to such efforts.
