B92 reported on the statement of the Chair of the Serbian Assembly Committee for Kosovo, Milovan Drecun, who said that the Special Court for KLA War Crimes is the last chance to prosecute crimes committed by KLA members.

He further said that the Working Group, established by the Assembly Committee gathered all the evidences related to the war crimes, responsible bodies in Serbia have, and they would be put on disposal to the Kosovo Special Prosecution.

“We demand punishment of those responsible for the war crimes regardless of their ethnic background. Discrimination of the victims must not happen and a special prosecution is the last attempt of the international community in Kosovo to prosecute those crimes,” Drecun emphasized.

He does not expect political pressure on the work of the prosecution and that an indictment would be raised against key KLA commanders.

However, the problem might arise if important positions in the Kosovo Government were taken by those who could find themselves on indictments’ list.
