Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said today that discussions are underway to determine the date for the Assembly session where border demarcation agreement with Montenegro would be put to vote. However, he admitted that the coalition parties have not yet managed to secure eighty votes required for the ratification of the agreement. “It is not an easy process. I believe we are at the final stage of preparations. It could happen by the week’s end or possibly early next week,” Haradinaj said adding: “If we had two-thirds of votes guaranteed, we would call a session as early as today.” He said the Serbian List continues to oppose the agreement while the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has vowed to support it but “there are still some details that need to be ironed out. I hope there will be more Albanian MPs who will give their vote.”
Meanwhile, MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Blerta Deliu-Kodra said it would be important for the demarcation agreement to be ratified this week although it is not clear yet when the Assembly session will take place. “We are waiting to see whether there will be any new developments this week,” she said. Similarly, MP Bilall Sherifi from the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA) said he has no information on the possible timing of the demarcation vote session.
