Ambassador of Serbia to UNESCO Darko Tanaskovic said that Pristina, due to changed international circumstances today, would have much less chance of joining that UN organization compared to 2015, when its application for membership was rejected.

Tanaskovic told Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti on Monday that at the moment the prospects for admission to UNESCO are not good for Pristina, but he added that it was difficult to assess whether the existing trend will continue and what kind of situation will be in that organization in 2019, when Pristina’s membership will  be on the agenda.

“We listen and follow what the other side is doing and we striv to adequately compete, whenever possible and in advance. In this, Russia helps us, as a very important ally, as well as China and five EU members, while support increasingly comes from Latin America, Arab and Islamic countries, many Asian and African countries,” the ambassador said.
