The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, said on Thursday in Sofia, during the joint conference with the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker and Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, that he does not see any other future for Western Balkans except for the EU. “There is no alternative, no Plan B. Western Balkans is integral part of Europe and they belong to our community,” Tusk said.

“We have discussed about the European perspective of Western Balkans. As I said during my visit to Balkans, the European Union is and will be in the future, the greatest partner of the entire Western Balkans,” Tusk said.

The European Union and Western Balkans states confirmed through a joint declaration at the Sofia Summit, commitment and determination for the European future of the region.

“The EU supports the Western Balkans partners’ pledge to continue strengthening good neighborly relations, regional stability and mutual cooperation,” is written in the declaration.
