Belgrade based daily Politika reports on Wednesday that French President Emmanuel Macron would visit Serbia on July 15-16, a day after the French national holiday.
The fact that Macron will pay a two-day visit shows a desire by official Paris to confirm and continue strengthening the good relations between France and Serbia, the pro-government daily said, adding that this includes trade which stands at around one billion Euros a year.
Politika said that the French president is coming to Belgrade right after Bastille Day (July 14) which, it added, is a special honour for Serbia. The daily said that Paris wants to “significantly activate its presence” in Serbia and the region with Belgrade as “an unavoidable stop”.
The meeting will provide opportunity for Macron and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to reach greater understanding on a whole range of issues, including Kosovo as the most important among them, Politika said.
