Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said today in Tirana that Kosovo is a reality although some member states of the European Union have not recognised its independence, RTK reports. “Kosovo is a reality, the majority of countries have recognised it, but there are some EU member states that have not recognised it. The EU has been able to follow a coherent policy toward Pristina and Belgrade and it will continue to do so. We need to wait for the new government in Kosovo to be formed, before we take a position,” Schallenberg said after meeting his Albanian counterpart, Gent Cakaj. The latter too said Kosovo is a reality and that cooperation between Kosovo and Albania is without alternative. “It is not up to me to comment on what Vucic has said, because due to his internal policies we cannot change our relations with Kosovo. Kosovo gave an example to the region on organising elections and the high standard of the change of power. Kosovo has proved it has a very mature electorate. We look forward to starting cooperation with the new government of Kosovo. Kosovo is an objective reality, its independence is irreversible and cooperation between the two countries is without alternative,” Cakaj said.
