Citing an unnamed source, the news website reports that the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV), which won the highest number of votes in the snap parliamentary elections, and the second-biggest party the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) have agreed in principle to share an equal number of ministries in a new coalition government. The two parties have reportedly agreed to reduce the size of the government to 12 ministries, where each party would get five ministries and the other two ministries would go to minority communities. In the initial talks, it was reportedly agreed that LVV would get:

  • The Ministry of Finance and Economy, which would merge the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Economic Development; the Ministry would have three deputy ministers, two of them from the LDK would deal with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Innovation and LVV would deal with the Ministry of Economic Development. The Ministry of Ministry of Interior Affairs, where a deputy minister would come from the LDK.
  • The Ministry of Justice, which would include a deputy minister from the LDK.
  • The Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. The Ministry would have two deputy ministers, one from each party.
  • The Ministry of Local Administration, which would two deputy ministers, one from each party.

The same source said the LDK would get:

  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs which would also merge the Ministry of Diaspora and the Ministry of Integration. The ministry would have two deputy ministers, one from each party.
  • The Ministry of Defence, which would have a deputy minister from the LVV.
  • The Ministry of Health, which would have a deputy minister from the LVV.
  • The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which would have a deputy minister from the LVV.
  • The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, which would have two deputy ministers, one from each party.

The source also said that the Ministry of Social Welfare (which would have deputy ministers from the LVV and LDK) and the Ministry of Returns and Communities (which would have deputy ministers from the LVV and LDK).

The same source also said that there could be changes to the current arrangements and that the LDK is insisting on an additional ministry in the new government.
