Matoshi: The agreement is OK – there’s no room for triumph (Koha Ditore)

Political analyst Halil Matoshi argues that Kosovo’s agreement for normalizing relations with Serbia is arranged by Brussels, but in essence it is an internal agreement of the state of Kosovo with its citizens, in line with the Constitution of Kosovo and the applicable laws. This means that a constitutional solution has been achieved for the north. Pristina safeguards its territory and in return it gives Serbs the European norm of regionalization. The agreement, Matoshi adds, does not serve for triumphalism because it ‘limits’ Pristina’s sovereignty in the north, but it is necessary to regain territorial integrity and the functioning of the state. Matoshi also notes that “strong and pathetic statements by groups and individuals in Pristina for ‘treason’ do not shake the current government. Therefore, opposition parties should criticize the government not for betraying state interests in Serbia’s favor, but for stealing, cooperating with organized crime and for the lack of rule of law.
