Hoxhaj asks for support from Greece and Slovakia (Telegrafi)

Kosovo Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj, during a visit to Brussels, met Greek Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Evangelos Venizelos, who is chairing the European Union’s Greek presidency. Hoxhaj also had a meeting with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Miroslav Lajcak.

In the meetings, Minister Hoxhaj briefed his Greek and Slovak counterparts about the internal progress in Kosovo and reforms taken for Kosovo’s European future.

He thanked the two ministers for the support in opening of Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) negotiations for Kosovo and stressed that the agreement will have to be neared this year. “For Kosovo it is among the most decisive steps for European integration and is the beginning of building a contractual relationship between Kosovo and the EU,” Hoxhaj said.

Kosovo FM has also asked for support in the visa liberalization process for citizens of Kosovo.

In the conversation, Hoxhaj informed his two European counterparts on the dialogue for normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, as two independent and sovereign countries.

He emphasized the need for implementation of agreements and the role the EU and member states can have in full normalization of relations between the two countries.

President of European Union Council, Evangelos Venizelos, and Slovakian DPM, Miroslav Lajcak, expressed support of their countries for Kosovo’s European perspective making it clear that Kosovo should count on the strong support from these two countries.

Venizelos and Lajcak hailed the dialogue as one of the most significant achievements of Kosovo and the region and noted that agreement between Kosovo and Serbia had had an impact beyond these two countries and has helped the climate in the region.
