Brussels based correspondent of this daily, Augustin Palokaj, writes that recent protests in Bosnia and Herzegovina, served as a reminder that this state is not functioning. The population there is in despair and disappointed, while the international community has not completed its duty.

For more than 20 years, we have been hearing the expression “Bosnia should not be repeated in Kosovo,” however, many things that are happening in Kosovo, especially when international engagement is concerned, look as repetition of the mistakes made in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The international community should reflect why are Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo stagnating the most in Balkans, despite the biggest engagement of the international community there.

People in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, have reason to be disappointed with their politicians, EU and international community in general. Recent developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and political stagnation in this country, are in a way consequence of U.S.’s lack of engagement, leaving all the work to EU. This should not be repeated in Kosovo, where the work of the international community, as accomplices in the liberation process and independence of Kosovo, is not over yet.
