There is still much confusion about the solution on the organization of the judiciary in the north of Kosovo and Metohija. There is speculation that Department for litigation will be in the south.

Belgrade will initial the agreement with Pristina on the organization of the judiciary in the north of Kosovo only when the last detail is finalized, which should take into account the specificity of the northern part of the province.

The expert teams in the next months to have a model by which the seat of the Municipal Court will be in the northern Kosovska Mitrovica in charge of the seven municipalities of Mitrovica North, South Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Srbica/Skenderaj and Vucitrn/ Vushtrri.

Unofficially, we learn of the possibility that the president of the court belongs to a Serb, and the head of the Prosecutor’s Office to an Albanian. There is also a proposal to conduct the trial in the southern and northern part of Mitrovica/Mitrovice, but should specify whether the departments differ in the nature of the subject for which they are responsible.

There is speculation that the northern department would be given a criminal matter, a southern civil, enforcement and offense. Such a solution, however, would mean that the Serbs from the north would have to go to the southern part of the city where only Albanians live to solve everyday problems – from inheritance to divorce.

Although the last round in Brussels brought some progress, First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic who took part in it, on Thursday said that, in fact, “nothing is agreed until everything is agreed”.

The Minister without portfolio responsible for Kosovo and Metohija Aleksandar Vulin neither was specific about the details in order “not to hinder the negotiation process.” He said it was too early for evaluation of success.

– It is certain that it will be taken into account that the Serbs in Kosovo are not in anyone’s hand, but at the hands of their nation, who speak their language.
