President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner accused US and Great Britain for ‘double standards’ if they don’t recognize Crimea as part of Russia. During her visit to Paris she compared referendum in Crimea with the one staged in Falkland  icelands, British territory claimed by Argentina, which calls them ‘Malvinas’ carried AFP.

International community has recognized the will of citizens of those icelands who voted by majority to remain part of Britain despite strong protests of Buenos Aires.

Argentina claims that Falklands, which were under British control for 180 years, are usurped and it even launched the war with Great Britain back in 1982.

“We request that when big powers talk about territorial integrity, that it is valid for all,” said Kirchner while referring to international opposition to referendum in Crimea, where 97 per cent of voters voted for separation from Ukraine.

Following her meeting with French President Oland, Kirchner said that ‘you can’t defend territorial integrity of Crimea, and not to do the same with Malvinas’.
