Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo and leader of the Independent Liberal Party Slobodan Petrović says that his relations with the Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi have not cooled down after he extended support to Serbia Progressive Party (SNS).

Petrović said that decision on support to the SNS was brought by himself and that he informed Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi about the decision, however their relations didn’t cool down. He described media writings about cooled down relations with the prime minister and the coalition partner, after he extended support to the SNS, as ‘ridiculous ones and gossips’. He went on to say that Thaçi was the first one to be informed before he called SLS supporters to vote for the SNS and Aleksandar Vučić in Serbian parliamentary elections.

“I am the president of the most serious political party which gathers Serbian community in Kosovo and I believe that you are aware that I made that move after consultations and in the interest of Serbian community,” said Petrović and explained that he sees in SNS people and policy which will lead toward solutions and not toward the creation of problems.

“We did it in the interest, not only of Serbian community, but of all citizens of Kosovo. It is very important who will form the government and what will be the dynamic of implementation of Brussels agreement. For the first time we’ve seen the policy which is oriented toward the future, toward the solution of the problems. The least we could do is to extend our support to such policy,” said Petrović.

Commenting on harmonization of the statues of four municipalities in the north of Kosovo with Kosovo laws, Petrović said that he believes that deadline of 30 days, set by the Ministry for that process, will be respected and that it won’t lead to dissolution of recently formed local self-governments.

I believe that solutions will be found in next 30 days for parts which are not in conformity with the Law on Local Self-Governance, said Petrović.
