Opposition bloc registers as joint caucus

LDK and AAK MPs registered on Thursday in the Assembly as a joint caucus – LDK-AAK-Nisma. They are convinced that their action is in compliance with the regulation and the law in force. Subsequently, they expect to have the right to nominate their candidate for Assembly Speaker.

LDK head Isa Mustafa confirmed that he signed in as member of LDK-AAK-Nisma caucus, while he believes that LDK-AAK-Nisma Coalition will also manage to get Assembly Speaker’s post.

“According to the legal and constitutional aspects, MPs have the right to independently decide about the caucus they want to be part of. No one can hinder this right because MPs are organised for such a determination and for reflection of their interests in the Assembly,” Mustafa said.

Isa Mustafa said that he will be the future Kosovo Assembly Speaker, KTV reported.

LDK MP Arben Gashi confirmed that registration of MPs is in line with the decision of LDK caucus, but he said that LDK General Council still has not decided who will be its candidate for the Assembly Speaker’s post.

Ashton calls a meeting between Kosovo and Serbia

The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton asked her team in Brussels to convene tomorrow a meeting between Kosovo and Serbia to work out an agreed way forward for all the issues related to the Mitrovicë/Mitrovica Bridge, in line with the agreements reached in the EU facilitated dialogue and in the spirit of the normalisation of relations. 

“Adem Jashari Square” plate placed in Bosniak neighbourhood

Construction works at “Tzar Lazar” square that Serbs started building up on Wednesday stopped. Only few kilometres away, Albanians at the Bosniak neighbourhood placed a concrete hurdle and placed “Adem Jashari Square” inscription in it.

The hurdle was placed by Albanian residents of Bosniak neighbourhood, who refused to speak in front of camera; however, they said that it was placed as a sign of revenge to “Tzar Lazar” square.

Albanians said that if Serbs continue to build up squares, they will do the same thing. Mitrovicë/Mitrovica south municipality called on citizens to refrain themselves.

Kosovo Government officials said that halting of construction works at “Tzar Lazar” square was set a condition to Brussels for continuation of talks with Serbia. Acting Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri confirmed this for RTK. She denied that building of “Peace Park” was part of the Brussels Agreement.

In the meantime, Head of Administrative Office in the north Adrijana Hodzic was not surprised by placement of “Adem Jashari Square” inscription. Hodzic said that she expected this to happen way earlier, Klan Kosova reported.

Rakic announced removal of “Adem Jashari” plate

Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north mayor Goran Rakic reacted to placement of “Adem Jashari” plate in Bosniak neighbourhood. He said that placement of the plate with “Adem Jashari” inscription in Bosniak neighbourhood of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north was done without the approval of municipal bodies.

Rakic announced its removal. According to him, illegal activities do not contribute to stabilization of situation in Mitrovica/Mitrovicë.

Zarko Veselinovic sentenced to 12-month imprisonment

(Klan Kosova, KTV) 

Zarko Veselinovic has been sentenced to 12-month imprisonment for committing the criminal offence, obstruction of the officer in carrying out his or her official duty.

Nonetheless, the time that he spent in house arrest and in detention will be accounted, which covers his 12-month sentence.

Veselinovic was accused of attempted-murder by EULEX, but the Court changed it and qualified his action as obstruction of the officer in carrying out his or her duty, in the trial session that was held in Mitrovica/Mitrovicë Court.

Foreign minister Hoxhaj received EUSR Zbogar

Kosovo foreign minister Enver Hoxhaj received the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar.

Minister Hoxhaj informed Zbogar about the progress and achievements of Kosovo, saying that “Kosovo institutions are expecting to sign the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU in a near future.”

On the other hand, Samuel Zbogar informed FM Hoxhaj about Brussels’ stance about these topics and other topics that were raised during the meeting.
