Berlin’s stance on change of borders in the Balkans would look differently, if Washington would support an idea of Serbian President Vucic on delineation, analyst Dejan Vuk Stankovic told Tanjug news agency.

At the same time, he assessed that the statement of German Chancellor Merkel is not a principled stance against delineation, since Germany by recognizing Kosovo, has already delineated it from Serbia.

“The stance of Germany is important, but it is not decisive, and it is not the only stance in the foreign policy. We have received unfavourable message, but it was not unexpected, therefore it should not shock or discourage us. There are centre of powers who do not share the same stance as Berlin, neither regarding the issue of independence, nor borders,” Stankovic added.

Asked if he has USA administration in mind, Stankovic responded in addition to the USA, he refers to the EU member states that have not recognized Kosovo, Russia and China who said they would both support everything Belgrade deemed to be in its interest.

Meanwhile, analyst Dragomir Andjelkovic also said the stance of Chancellor Merkle is nothing new, and Serbia should neither be happy nor worried about that, since USA are changing the policy and open a door to compromise.

He pointed out a false perception has been created in the public that solution of the Kosovo issue is near and considered as valid remarks President Vucic made in that regard, who said solution of the Kosovo issue would take some time and would not happen in the two or three months, Serbian media reported.
