Serbian Orthodox Church Raska-Prizren Eparchy once more warned that division, exchange (of territories) or “delineation between Serbs and Albanians,” in Serbian sovereign territory, would automatically leave the largest number of the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija to the mercy of those, who even until now did not show readiness to respect their rights, Serbian media reported. Under such unfavorable set of events, there is a great danger for us to be exposed to a pogrom, similar to that from March 2004, or to be forced to exodus with pressure and silent terror, monks and priests from the Eparchy, headed by Bishop Teodosije warned. Eparchy further said, they support the stance that Kosovo and Metohija remain inalienable part of Serbia, with its 1.500 Orthodox monasteries, churches, endowments and monuments of the Serbian culture. Eparchy, in its press statement, noted that preservation of this part of Serbia is not a matter of national ideology or mythology, nor territory only, but that it represents the very essence of the church-people’s being and existence, something that kept Serbs and Christ’s Church for centuries in this area. The statement further said priests and monks of Raska-Prizren Eparchy support preservation of Kosovo and Metohija as integral part of Serbia, in line with all international standards, the Constitution of Serbia and UN SC Resolution 1244. Eparchy also underlined this appeal does not present interference into the politics, but loud cry of those, who living in Kosovo and Metohija, before the Lord and their own consciences have responsibility towards people which makes a living church with them.
