The United Nations Security Council should discuss about compromise final solution for Kosovo, in case it is reached, Belgrade-based Vecernje Novosti writes today, referring to diplomatic sources.
This would bring this issue back under the auspices of the world organization, from where it has been removed in 2010 following the resolution submitted by the-then Serbian authorities, pushing the Kosovo issue in the hands of the EU, as a mediator in a dialogue between the two sides, Novosti further added.
Such a set of events opens the room for Belgrade to build on its strategic position with the help of Moscow and Beijing, and it is expected Russia and the USA would play the main role in a possible discussion on the matter at the UN.
These two countries, according to Novosti, should discuss modalities on how to resolve a complicated Kosovo knot, while there is a firm agreement with Moscow, it would support the proposal put forward by Serbia.
Former diplomat, Milovan Bozinovic told Novosti it would be politically logical, if the agreement is reached, to present it to the Security Council and in this light, he sees the recent increased role of Russia in this process, Novosti wrote.
