United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) presented yesterday the most recent Public Pulse survey, funded by USAID, on perceptions, attitudes, and expectations of the youth in Kosovo regarding their satisfaction with the overall situation in Kosovo, migration, education, employment, interethnic relations, and perspectives about the future. The survey included 452 respondents aged between 14 and 35 years. Results showed that majority of respondents are pessimistic about the future of Kosovo, while most of them consider the lack of job opportunities, poverty, nepotism, and corruption as the main challenges of their perspective in Kosovo. Atdhe Hetemi, manager of the project, said that 48% of people interviewed think Kosovo is neither going in the right nor the wrong direction while 32% consider Kosovo is moving in the wrong direction and 9.5% say Kosovo is doing well. At the same time, Alessandra Roccasalvo, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Kosovo, said there is no society that can grow prosperous without the next generation “so, tackling issues that young generation perceives as important, is the insurance for a successful Kosovo in the future” while Paul Vaca from USAID said results of the survey demand that institutions provide better education, create more jobs, decrease poverty and fight nepotism and corruption.
