EU Enlargement Negotiations Commissioner, Johannes Hahn said that Belgrade-Pristina agreement must be specific and harmonized, and not a precedent, as well as in line with international law, BETA news agency reported.

“Stance of EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, as a mediator in these negotiations, is clear and it has been clear since the beginning of her mandate – joint action for lasting peace between Serbia and Kosovo, and in the region as a whole, is the main EU’s priority,” Hahn told Podgorica-based daily Pobjeda.

Asked if the change of borders is acceptable for the EU, Hahn said when it comes to Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, lasting solution means sustainable, realistic solution in line with the international law.

“This is the leading principle, after the work on a final phase of dialogue started in July last year. Each agreement must be specific and harmonized, and not a precedent, to contribute to the regional stability and advancement toward the EU. Parties together define a framework for joint consent and they publicly said what they see as priorities for a lasting solution. They should be given a room to agree on the content of a comprehensive agreement on normalization,” Hahn noted.

Hahn added, he as a mediator, would not comment on possible elements of legally binding, comprehensive agreement, Serbian media reported.
