According to the General Assembly resolution dated 15 June 2007, the International Day of Non-violence is marked every 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

This holiday reflects the universal respect Gandhi has inspired and the strength and importance of his philosophy.

At present, tolerance is being challenged in many parts of the world. Wars have sparked a large number of victims, discrimination, terrorism, human trafficking and violence against women threaten millions of people.

Resolving conflicts through peace is a major challenge and prevention strategies are a priority of the United Nations to achieve this goal.

There is no announcement on marking this day in Kosovo, despite the different kinds of violence that are mentioned, and it is written continuously about. Domestic violence, violence against women, violence on trafficking, violence…
