The Mitrovdan Memorial was marked this Saturday, and photographs of demolished gravestones from Christian cemeteries in Kosovo flooded social media. The Abbot of Visoki Decani monastery, Sava Janjic, also published a series of pictures of demolished monuments from the Orahovac cemetery, followed by a lengthy story written by a Serbian language teacher in the Orahovac grammar school, Olivera Radic.
She noted her experience from Saturday. A 30-member group of Serbian visitors found desecrated monuments in the Orahovac Christian cemetery – broken crosses and graves covered with manure, dead dogs, cats, and chickens. However, Radic emphasized, this no longer comes as a surprise.
