Representatives of the Special Court for KLA crimes would visit Serbia on 21 December and meet with lawyers selected to carry out acts of representation before this judicial institution, Tanjug news agency reported.

According to Belgrade-based daily Politika, the visit would last two days, while the Special Court would be presented by the Head of the Victims’ Participation Office, Silke Studzinsky and the Coordinator of the Defense Office, David Hein.

Chair of the Serbian Chamber of Advocates and one of the selected lawyers Viktor Gostiljac told Politika daily it was necessary to organize such a meeting.

“Lawyers who would be engaged in proceedings before the Special Court for KLA crimes in general know very little about this judicial institution. We still do not have information when the court should start working, how it would function, what would be conditions of our engagement. I believe the meeting would be constructive and everybody in the court would have benefit from it. Also, I believe that following the meeting we would have a much clearer picture related to the certain issues to which we have no answers so far,” Gostiljac underlined.

Around 30 lawyers from Serbia would take part in the work of the Special Court for KLA crimes as defending and representing parties. They would be engaged in proceedings initiated in relation to the criminal acts committed during and after the conflict in Kosovo, as well as parts of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly report.
