Serbian media over the weekend reported on the statement Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj made, saying that, on several occasions, he had discussed founding a pact to oppose Serbia and its “aggressive policy” with the leaders of Croatia, Macedonia and Montenegro while visiting those countries.
Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director, Marko Djuric reacting to the statement said that Hoxhaj unveiled true intentions of great-Albanian criminals from Pristina, adding their aim is to humiliate Serbia and create anti-Serbian coalition in the region. He stressed that Hoxhaj confirmed what Serbia has been warning the international community about, respectively the aim of the Albanian political elite in Pristina is to create great-Albanian domination in the region.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minster and Minister of Internal Affairs, Nebojsa Stefanovic said that Hoxhaj’s statement represents “an act of hostility” towards Serbia and its citizens as well as creating additional instability in the region. He also said it is necessary to hear how the states Hoxhaj mentioned would react to his statement.
Serbian Defense Minister, Aleksandar Vulin said Serbia threatens no one, nor it makes alliances against any nation, and he does not advise anyone to build its politics against Serbia. “Serbia knows how and is able to defend itself,” Vulin noted.
Serb member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, Milorad Dodik said that Hoxhaj’s statement confirms long-term anti-Serbian politics present in the region.
President of Independent Democratic Party and chair of the Serbian National Council in Croatia, Milorad Pupovac said Hoxhaj’s statement is in full contradiction with preservation of stability in the region.
Croatian analyst Zarko Puhovski thinks that Hoxhaj’s statement “is not that friendly” but he does not believe it could be realized in the sense of a real attack against Serbia.
Meanwhile, Enver Hoxhaj refuted that he had spoken of creating any pact against Serbia.
The Foreign Ministry of Montenegro on December 2 also refuted that any of the country’s officials had discussed a pact against any state in the region. In a similar tone, Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Macedonia had never discussed a pact against Serbia with anyone.
