A memorial plaque placed on the spot from where journalists Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenic were abducted on 21 August 1998 was demolished and taken away for the seventh time in the last six years. Demolished plaque was found near the spot by President of Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo, Budimir Nicic and Association of Journalists of Serbia Managing Board member Zivojin Rakocevic, Radio KIM reports.
Traces of a construction machinery used to eradicate the plaque were visible on the spot. There was a pile of soil, construction debris and animal bones, scattered around.
The plaque placed last time by the members of the Association of Journalists of Serbia on 15th May 2018 bears inspiration in Serbian and Albanian languages – On 21 August 1998, our colleagues Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenic were abducted here: We are looking for them.
Association of Journalists of Serbia and its branch in Kosovo strongly condemned this incident and requested international and Kosovo institutions to find perpetrators “of this savagery” carried out for the seventh time.
Rakocevic noted that the journalists would place the plaque again, Radio KIM reported.
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija also condiment the incident.
