Serbia will never stop insisting on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM), a part of the Brussels Agreement signed in 2013, a Government official said on Tuesday, N1 reported.

Marko Djuric, the head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Belgrade’s official name for its former province, said he was grateful to local Serbs, loyal to Belgrade, for not trying to form the CSM on their own.

“No one in Pristina or anywhere else should hope we will give up on the CSM. Gentlemen, you put your signatures, and we will insist that you honour what you signed till the last letter and not to do whatever you want,” Djuric said.

Pristina accuses Belgrade of failing to implement some deals from the Brussels Agreement, including the one on energy.
It also says it won’t allow the CSM to become like, as they put it, Republika Srpska, a part of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a Serb majority, i.e., to have any executive powers.

The European Union-facilitated Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on normalisation of relations has been on halt since Kosovo introduced the 100 percent import duties on goods from Serbia and Bosnia.

The US and EU have been asking Pristina to suspend the taxes, but the Government has so far ignored the calls even the request from Washington which said that only after the suspension of tariffs Kosovo – US relations could go back to normal.
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj does not give up, while President Hashim Thaci said on Monday there was neither a price nor a reason which would imperil Kosovo’s relations with the US.

He added that “this advice (on the suspension of taxes) will also be honoured. Maybe it will take more time, but the sooner we do it, the better.”
