Savic family house in the center of Vitina was target of unknown attackers last week. The noise of stones hitting the window shutters woke up the family members during the night on Wednesday. Fearing for their safety, they did not get out of the house. RTV Puls reported this is the sixth attack against the Savic family property since the beginning of the year, and the last attack was reported to the police.

“After receiving the information about the incident, the police went to the spot and initiated an investigation. The house of this family was stoned one more time same as the house of another person. Juveniles were identified as attackers and there is proceeding held against them (…),” Gnjilane police spokesperson Ismet Hashani said.

The Savic family same as their neighbors are under permanent pressure and fear, however, they did not want to speak about that publicly.

Radio kontakt plus reported that during the previous year, the family was attacked three times. The police last year arrested three persons over these attacks, and they during the court proceeding promised not to exert violence against the Serb neighbors any longer.

Prior to 1999 conflict more than 5 thousand Serbs lived in Vitina, however, following the conflict and March 2004 pogrom only 60 of them remained living in the town.
