Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj told a press conference in Pristina today that the import tariff on Serbian goods can be suspended if a final settlement with Serbia, which doesn’t include border changes, is discussed. Haradinaj said today’s meeting between Assembly President Veseli and U.S. Ambassador Kosnett was a regular meeting. “I met the Assembly President too today to discuss several points. One of them was about an extraordinary [assembly] session that would vote on the platform for dialogue … and this session could be used for other topics too,” he said. Haradinaj said Kosovo’s leaders are not being united on issues of national interest. “I have said this before some topics of national interest are ruining our country. Every time we are not united, we are making it difficult to our allies. We had two issues, the Army and Trepca, and now we have the case of the tariff which is causing us problems,” he said. Haradinaj said he maintains his position on the import tariff on Serbian goods. “No government can threaten relations with the United States of America. I have expressed my concern over the lack of unity on issues of national interest. I understand the wish to offer a way out of this situation, as suggested by some leaders. But I too have a strong and reasonable argument for my position. We need to be careful in our actions; I stand behind the decision we have made together,” he said.
