Quint concerned by archaic and communist behavior of party leaders (Lajmi)
A diplomat from a Quint member state told Lajmi on the condition of anonymity that leaders of main parliamentary parties have brought Kosovo on the verge of a political, economic and financial collapse. He said the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy are analyzing the situation and are concerned with the hypocrisy of leaders who do not hesitate to tell the media that they have brought Kosovo to this situation in order to protect the interests of the people.
“The truth is that the two main blocs, the Democratic Party of Kosovo [PDK] on the one hand and the post-election coalition LVAN [Democratic League of Kosovo, Vetevendosje Movement, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Initiative for Kosovo] on the other hand are barricaded behind their positions and they have put their personal interests before the interests of Kosovo and its people,” the diplomat said. “Efforts to act in opposition with the decision of the Constitutional Court and the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo are efforts to destroy the state of Kosovo. In the West, such efforts are seen as a tendency to build another system, similar to the communist system, but which is not based on the war of classes, but rather the war of clans of interests. Kosovo and its people are trying to build a democratic state. Therefore, allow me to repeat that party leaders in Kosovo are acting in anarchic fashion whereas we all know that democracy and good values are built and fostered together by respecting the rules of laws of the country”.
Asked if he expects intervention by the international community to break the political deadlock if President Atifete Jahjaga fails to convince party leaders to find a solution in line with the decision of the Constitutional Court and the Constitution of Kosovo, the diplomat said Kosovo leaders should understand Albanian better than other languages. “We all have faith in President Jahjaga and we don’t think we should intervene to find a solution, because in our opinion, if personal interests are set asides, a solution will be easily found! This does not include the difficult talks between Kosovo and Serbia. In this case the President is there. She spoke in Albanian!” the foreign diplomat told the news website.
