Veseli on the special court: Let us rise above the individual emotions, and act with state reason (Koha)
Kadri Veseli, Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo said at the third conference of Ambassadors that is being held in Pristina that courtesy diplomacy is not sufficient for Kosovo. “We need concrete actions of measurable effect. We need concrete agreements with the countries that we have bilateral relations, especially in the field of economic cooperation. It should be clear to us that no one will come pleading for this,” said Veseli. He added that it is obvious that capacities of the new state in the field of diplomacy are limited, but this situation cannot change if there is no economic development.
“In another dimension, focus on economy, acceleration of economic development, assures us the best instruments of facing the global effects and challenges in our society. The first one being the challenge of terrorism. Religious extremists feed themselves with political instability, economic insecurity and decrease of social hopes,” said Veseli.
“During the last weeks and months, our country is facing another very difficult challenge,” said Veseli referring to the special court.
“Without wanting to enter history on how we got to this situation, allow me to stress that we are at the momentum when we as a state should overpass this challenge with rationalism, political and historical maturity. Kosovo should in no way come out as a looser from this challenge. Kosovo should come out as a winner and dignified” said Veseli. “In order for this to happen we should rise above our individual emotions and act with state reason. At the same time, we should make certain to keep intact our partnership with the western world, with which we achieved all historical successes of Kosovo: liberation, independence, consolidation of the state,” Vesli said.
