Schwendiman encouraged by formation of special court (Telegrafi)

The Lead Prosecutor of the European Union’s Special Investigative Task Force (SITF), David Schwendiman, said on Monday he was encouraged by the adoption of the legislation for the formation of the special court in Kosovo. “The Kosovo Assembly adopted the constitutional amendments and the law that makes way for the formation of the Specialist Chambers and the Office of the Specialist Prosecutor,” Schwendiman said in a media statement. “I am encouraged by the final vote because it brings Kosovo closer to addressing, once and for all, the very serious allegations made in the Council of Europe report in January 2011 … The process of forming the Specialist Chambers and the Office of the Specialist Prosecutor is not complete yet. I encourage all stakeholders to continue their efforts in order to make sure that this judicial mechanism can start functioning as soon as possible”.
