Fischer: Kosovo, an important issue for the entire Europe (media)
The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, hosted today the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer, with the highest military honors by the Kosovo Security Force.
During their meeting, the two presidents discussed the issues of economic development of Kosovo. “We had an extremely good and fruitful meeting with the President Fiescher, discussing the economic development. You President have supported Kosovo. Austria is the country where the grounds of Kosovo’s statehood were established and among the first countries to have recognized Kosovo’s independence,” said Jahjaga.
“We are deeply honored with the arrival of 25 Austrian investors in Kosovo. We expect to progress also on the process of visa liberalization. As a young country in Europe, we are proving that we keep the stability and resolve issues through dialogue and discussions.”
The Austrian President Heinz Fischer stated that he has accepted President Jahjaga’s invitation with pleasure. “Kosovo is an important issue for the entire Europe,” he said.
Speaking about the Agreement on the Association/Community of the Serb majority municipalities, Fischer said that the Association will be very functional and it will not violate the Constitution of Kosovo. “Based on my studies of the issue, the Agreement for the Association/Community of the Serb majority municipalities does not have to do with other constitutional levels, but the municipalities will only have the right to gather. I know that this will function very well in practice,” said Fischer during the joint press conference with President Jahjaga.
